International: Not Just Lip Service
Many times, when an American-led church plant fails in a foreign land, it is because it could not transition from American leadership to national leadership. But what if the agency that does the sending has a multi-national leadership? And what if the church plant starts with nationals in leadership? And what if the church planters partnered with locals from the project’s inception? This would make a difference!
We believe it does! It’s not that we are smarter than others. It is that, for whatever reason, God introduced us to key Christian leaders in Europe and that web of relationships has grown over the past 20-30 years. Our missionaries are from 39 different countries!
International doesn’t just mean that our local teams are multinational. Even the four members of our International Leadership Team (ILT), are originally from four different countries. Leadership makes a difference, and from the top to bottom, we are international.
When moving into a new area or region, we find local Christians to partner with. Together, we plant in areas desperately in need of the Gospel! Partnering with national Christian leaders allows our missionaries to learn language and culture from those who know it best. This same language and culture is shared with their non-Christian neighbors. Kontaktmission’s outreach is much more effective because we team with them from the outset!
Kontaktmission’s missionaries, coming from all those 39 nationalities, are now serving in *:
- Austria (where the first outreaches took place)
- Central African Republic
- Czech Republic (Czechia)
- Germany (where our home office is located)
- South Africa
- South Sudan
- Switzerland (many of our earliest team members were Swiss)
- United States (In addition to the KM USA staff, an American/German church planting couple serves in Washington)
Join Kontaktmission as we plant and strengthen the church in Europe and beyond.
*You’ll notice that many of these countries are not in Europe, but almost all our missionaries in those places do have a strong connection to Europe. In addition, we have a number of ministries focusing on people groups living within Europe who originated elsewhere, including southern Asia. We remain a more-or-less Europe-centered mission, but Europe keeps getting more complex! A few countries have been removed from this list for security and other reasons.Share on Facebook
